Climate change simulations database for impact studies
Climate change simulations database for impact studies
The objective of this project is to set up a climate change simulations database network and to make available to the ‘impacts’ community the estimated atmospheric consequences of the rise in greenhouse gas concentrations. The project proposes to go further than acting as a mere distribution centre of scenarios by creating a forum associated with this database.
On the one hand, outputs from climatological models are affected by a number of uncertainties that must be pointed out to potential users.
On the other hand, teams working on the impacts of climate change have certain expectations concerning the variables provided by the atmospheric models. The forum created a communication bridge between the two groups that facilitated the introduction of more relevant diagnoses in the models and encouraged a more discriminating use of the anomalies produced by the same models for impact prediction.
